Building a Collection, Part 1

Chapter 1: Creativity 

It is in my office in Lyon that the first stage of creation takes place.

Inspiration is everywhere, a memory, a landscape, a music, a material… everything can be a trigger to imagine a universe: this is how the theme of the collection is born.

When it's chosen, I like to illustrate it to set the mood .  I will then choose images that will go into this theme, preferably images that are not directly related to fashion, but rather to architecture and decoration, landscapes and different places that inspire me, but also textile or organic materials that will give me ideas of textures and sensations. This set of images is collected and assembled to form a mood board: the moodboard . 

This moodboard makes it possible to define more precisely the universe of the collection, but also to begin to find the colors in connection with the atmosphere. By creating a harmonious color chart that stems from these different images, I think of the colors that go with the tones of the collection: the colored range is born. 

This moodboard also allows you to imagine the first shapes and materials of the pieces in the collection, fluid and vaporous or, on the contrary, structured and geometric, for example. 

Then I test, I start by imagining lines, silhouettes, to draw the first pieces that I specify while thinking of the ideal materials and textures for each of the elements. I end up selecting the pieces according to the outfits that I can create with them and that best reflect the universe of the collection.

It is then time to move on to the technical part
